Having declared a climate emergency in July 2019 和 adopted net zero carbon targets by 2030 in September 2020 we are now actively working with Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, Worcestershire County Council 和 Worcester City council to develop decarbonisation strategies.

This reports directly to the University Executive Board.

The Future Heat Programme has the potential to join with other heat networks in the city of Worcester 和 save 35,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions prevented over the system lifetime, a techno-economic study is looking at the feasibility of this approach. We installed three major PV solar systems across the estate during 2021, 总发电潜力为295 kWp.  新黄金城集团获得了100万英镑的奖金 偷看 funding to significantly increase the PV generation capacity, increase LED lighting 和 improve Building Management Systems.

  •  5% p.a. reduction GHGe emissions in energy against a 2018/19 baseline from 2020 to 2030.


  • An absolute energy consumption reduction of 901 MWh p.a. (5.9% p.a.) from 2019 to 2030, reducing consumption from 15,157 MWh in 2018-2019 to 4,348 in 2030-2031.  
  • A combined energy intensity reduction of target of p.a. 5.9% p.a. from 2019 to 2030, reducing consumption energy intensity from 162 kWh/GIA m2 in 2018-2019 to 53.2030-2031年56千瓦时/GIA m2.

  • Approve new decarbonisation plan for 3 main campuses to align to net zero carbon targets in this academic year.
